The next time a fan gets kicked out of a National Football League stadium for being unruly they'll have to take a $75 four-hour online class and pass a code-of-conduct test to get back in.

"We're not trying to squash anyone’s passion. We're just trying to say don't be violent," Dr. Ari Novick, a licensed psychotherapist who developed the idea, told the New York Post.

Stadium requirements will vary across the league but most of the time a booted fan will be required to pass the conduct test, Novick said.

At MetLife Stadium, Security Chief Daniel DeLorenzi says that about 25 fans are kicked out of the stadium at each Jet and Giant game. In order to combat a growing trend of unruly behavior, MetLife was the first, along with the New England Patriots’ Gillette Stadium, to require completion of the class and test in 2010.

In New York, the rowdies are also required to write DeLorenzi a letter of apology as well. But he says about 25 percent of people will never take the class and are placed on the "unforgiven" list which contains the name, photo and seat number of every fan who has been ejected.

The class is available at FanConductClass.com and the taker must answer at least 70 percent of the questions correctly to pass.

Novick, the creator of the concept takes $55 from the test fee and the rest of the money is donated to Mothers Against Drunk Driving and the HERO Campaign for Designated Drivers.

The NFL is cracking down on out-of-control fans.

From now on, if a fan gets ejected from an NFL stadium, he/she will probably have to pass a code-of-conduct exam before being allowed to attend another game, according to the New York Post.


Requirements for re-entry will vary depending on the stadium, the report points out, but most will involve an online class (fanconductclass.com) followed by an exam.

The program was designed by a licensed psychotherapist, Dr. Ari Novick.

“We’re not trying to squash anyone’s passion,” Novick told the Post. “We’re just trying to say don’t be violent.”

Novick began sampling the program in 2010, employing his conduct classes at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., and Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.

Fans ejected from MetLife were required to write a letter of apology to stadium security chief Daniel DeLorenzi and complete a $75 online course that lasts four hours.

A portion of the proceeds goes to Mothers Against Drunk Driving and the HERO Campaign for Designated Drivers.
