Bills To Workout Vince Young

Vince Young could be headed for his best, last chance to prove he's a quality NFL quarterback.

The Bills announced on Tuesday that Young will work out for the team Wednesday. Declaring the news publicly in addition to some words from general manager Buddy Nix after the draft indicates that a signing is likely to happen.

"We're gonna get one in free agency. We're gonna bring in a quarterback, and we think a good one," Nix said.

We have to assume Nix wasn't talking about undrafted rookie free agent quarterback Aaron Corp from Richmond. (Although you never know.) If signed, Young would compete with Tyler Thigpen for the backup spot behind Ryan Fitzpatrick.

As perhaps the last remaining media member on the Vince Young bandwagon, I couldn't have picked a better spot. Chan Gailey knows how to coach up mobile quarterbacks like he did with Tyler Thigpen, Kordell Stewart, and during his run at Georgia Tech. Buffalo's offense shares some similarities with the attack Young ran at Texas.

Perhaps just as importantly, Young would have a legitimate shot to play in Buffalo. He could potentially beat out Thigpen for the backup role in camp. If Fitzpatrick gets hurt or plays like he did down the stretch in 2011, Young could get another crack at being a starting quarterback.

I like this a lot. I know he's had some character issues but I think he could still be a good player

Young has a lot more talent than a lot of people give him credit for, but the problem is above is shoulders.
