LIONS TRADE DEALINGS
DETROIT SNAGS MANUWAI IN TRADE ![]() The Detroit Lions have done a deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars in which they receive LG Vince Manuwai and a 5th round draft pick in return for a 2nd round draft pick. Detroit are fairly thin along the offensive line, so getting Manuwai was very important for the Lions. Manuwai should slot right into Detroit's starting lineup and improve the offensive line for Detroit.

LIONS TRADE DEALINGS
DETROIT AND NEW ENGLAND FINALISE TRADE FOR WATSON ![]() It has cost the Lions 2 draft picks, but they have got the man they wanted in a trade completed today with the Pats, that sees TE Ben Watson and a 5th round draft pick go to Detroit in return for a 3rd and 7th round draft pick. OC Mike Martz was visibly happy with the trade going through earlier today, as Watson is a stellar TE and is a very good blocker as well. "He'll make an immediate impact on the team and he is also a great team player and a well respected person" Martz said in the news conference. Detroit's offence is starting to become quite talented indeed now, however it is also the defense that needs improving, so look for Detroit's next few acquisitions to be with the defense. --- BREAKING NEWS --- This just in from the Lions camp, it has just come through that Punter Leo Araguz has just announced his retirement after 10 years in the league. Araguz retires at age 39 and will be missed by the Detroit organisation and a replacement will needed to be found either in the draft or free agency.

The guys are still learning the plays, the formations, the timings...umm, the guys are shaking off the rust but I was impressed with the offence tonight. Our line held up really well, rotating through the entire list, I think they gave up just the one sack.....so that is quite promising. The negatives...our defense still needs a lot of work...umm...and although they tightened up towards the end of the second quarter and pretty much for the rest of the game, again, there’s a lot of rust there, it’ll just take some time and we’ll work on that. I was happy with the 3 turnovers, not so happy with the special teams allowing that kick return touchdown...again, we’ll work on that...(asked about Andre Woolfolk’s injury)...he’s fine...he just landed awkwardly after taking that interception, so we took him off for the remainder of the game just for precautionary reasons....Andre is fine and he’ll play next week."

LIONS TRANSACTIONS
TRADE The Detroit Lions have announced today that they have finalised a trade with both the Houston Texans and Denver Broncos. Unhappy second year CB Bobby Holt no longer wants to be in Detroit and has pleaded with the Lions to trade him. Today, Detroit honored his wish. The Lions traded Holt to Denver for a 4th round draft pick and then used their 3rd round draft pick, trading it to Houston for CB Javarris Thomas.

Uhhh, the end result which is the win is good, however we won real ugly tonight, where a few players had bad games and need to turn around their form for next week. I was happy with our Backs tonight in their limited time...and the defense were quite solid as well. They were a lot tighter tonight than last week and forced 4 turnovers. No injuries which is great, so now we just take what we can from this game, put it behind us and continue to work on the critical issues on the training field...prepare for next week’s game."
