What if the power numbers don't come though? I don't get the feeling that Lavarnway is a guy that hits for average or gets on base a lot.

Just looked up his minor league stats, guy actually posted a decent OBP.

I didn't realize he had over 150 at-bats last year though. That's a pretty extensive size... And his .157/.211/.248 line was atrocious. I'm a Lavarnway fan. I don't think those numbers reflect his potential.

But what if they do? I just don't think Ross can handle much more than backing up duties. He hasn't played over 65 games since 2007 when he played 112.

I'll believe both when I see it.

Fully expecting to see the same ol' Lackey come reporting time. Hopefully the guy shows up ahead of the required arrival time. He needs to start mending fences as soon as possible.

If his power numbers aren't as good I still wouldn't be heartbroken about losing Salty. I just think power is really overrated when a guy is hitting .220 with horrible defense to go along with it.

If Lavarnway really sucks again and we're forced to make a move, we can always go out and trade for a mediocre rental option.

As for Ross, I'm with you there. My only expectation is for him to be a solid back-up who gives Lavarnway a few helpful pointers here and there.

Let's just bring Varitek out of retirement.

Swihart is our top C at the moment & 8th overall top prospect in the system. Here are his stats...

Kind of early to really tell how good he'll be.

I like the "batspeed va quick, explosive hands" part. I feel like Salty and Lavarnway have long swings at times. The under-sized part is odd, but having a more athletic catcher could make us better off.
