08:06 AM ET 01.21 | Courtesy Sunday's 103-88 loss to Detroit, Doc Rivers had enough. Rivers' post-game comments left an unmistakable impression that he has had all he's going to take from this Celtics team that continues to play erratic, inconsistent and underachieving basketball. "I gotta either find the right combination or the right guys, or we're going to get some guys out of here," said a visibly upset Rivers after the Celtics lost their third straight game. "That's the bottom line." ... Said Boston's Kevin Garnett: "I'm pretty sure Doc's upset and frustrated like everybody else here right now. He's mad as me, he thinks in those terms. I'm a player and I have to say, 'what can I do better?' That's where I'm at."

I can't imagine Doc losing his job. He and Ainge have too much of a rapport. This is all on the players. They can't get going on a consistent enough basis.

ummmm news flash if a team is not winning it is easier to fire the coach than it is to trade players. just ask Mike Brown and Avery Johnson about it.

Mike Brown and Avery Johnson haven't won a championship with their teams either. Doc just got a 5 year extension last year and this team was in the Eastern Conference Championships just last year and an NBA Finals appearance the year before. He isn't going anywhere after one bad year.

Rev, no offense, but I don't think you understand the level of respect the players and management have for Doc Rivers. He's not going anywhere.
This also isn't a dream team implosion scenario like the Lakers or a overhaul of stars underperforming like the Nets. This is a scenario of trying to surrounded a couple of guys in the twilight of their careers with some unproven parts. Jeff Green never proved much. Courtney Lee is the same. Jared Sullinger is a rookie. Jason Collins gives nothing offensively. Brandon Bass is disappointing all around. With Collins a non-factor offensively and playing limited minutes, Fab Melo getting seasoned in the D League, Darko bolting to Europe, KG's minutes being monitored and limited, and Bass not doing his job, that leaves Sullinger as the lone threat on the offensive or defensive glass. Some of it is finding the right rotations, but a lot more is guys playing up to their billing. If they don't, who's to blame? The players for playing poorly? The coach for using them poorly? The GM for buying into them? It's a gray area. Right now, I look at the players for being mediocre and Danny Ainge for building a team that has raw talent, but no size and depth in the wrong places. I will say this... Doc needs to use Leandro Barbosa more.
