Former NFL offensive lineman Kwame Harris has been charged with felony domestic violence after allegedly beating his ex-boyfriend following a restaurant argument over soy sauce, according to InsideBayArea.com.

Harris, who played for the 49ers and Raiders between 2003-08, is accused breaking bones around the eye socket of Dimitri Geier after repeatedly punching him in the face, according to a lawsuit cited by the Bay Area News Group.

The steps, per the suit, that led to the fight? 1: Harris takes issue with Geier pouring soy sauce on his rice during dinner at Su Hong restaurant in Menlo Park, Calif. 2: Harris revokes his offer to drive Geier to San Francisco International Airport. 3: As Geier retrieves his luggage to place into a cab, Harris attempts to pull Geier's pants down, accusing him of stealing his underwear and that's when the situation turned violent.

Harris faces up to seven years in prison if convicted.

Ex-NFL Player Kwame Harris Confirms He’s Gay

(CBS) While the NFL awaits its first active gay player, one former player has officially come out.

Former San Francisco 49ers offensive tackle Kwame Harris admitted he was gay in an interview with CNN.

“I want people, whether gay athletes, athletes still in the closet, or youths who are not sure what their sexuality is to know those are common feelings,” Harris told CNN. “Don’t feel alone in having them.”

Suspicions of Harris’ homosexuality first spiked after he was arrested in January after a dispute with a supposed boyfriend.

Harris, a former first-round draft pick, said he knew he was gay while playing, but kept it a secret out of fear.

“You want to escape the despair and turmoil and your mind goes to dark places,” Harris said. “I’m happy today, and I’m glad they were just ideas and I didn’t act on any of them.

“The cost was great (to) not speak candidly … open about myself in complete manner. If I could have done it differently, I would have hoped I found the strength.”

Because he was a mediocre offensive lineman and after two seasons of starting the 49ers had to use another 1st Round pick (Joe Staley) to replace him maybe?
