Da’Quan Bowers arrested for carrying gun at airport
Posted by Michael David Smith on February 18, 2013, 5:29 PM EST Buccaneers defensive end Da’Quan Bowers has been arrested for carrying a gun at an airport. NBCNewYork.com reports that Bowers was arrested at LaGuardia Airport on Monday morning after police discovered he was illegally carrying a handgun. Bowers had a loaded .40 caliber firearm in his carry-on bag as he was attempting to get on a US Airways flight to Raleigh, North Carolina. Bowers was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and is expected to appear in court on Monday evening. A 2011 second-round draft pick of the Buccaneers, Bowers missed the first six games of the 2012 season with a torn Achilles tendon but returned in time to play in 10 games and record three sacks last season.

The latest update on Buccaneers defensive end Da'Quan Bowers provides a bit of a silver lining on the dark cloud surrounding his arrest on a felony gun charge. His lawyer released a statement today stating that he is confident that Bowers will be cleared of this charge, and while this is something you'd expect from a lawyer worth his paycheck, he might have good reason for his confidence. The Tampa Bay Times' Stephen Holder released an update on the situation today and profiled the lucky breaks that will benefit Bowers in his attempt to clear his name. The premise of the article is that the jurisdiction of the arrest is different than the one that ruled over the case of Plaxico Burress. The future is looking brighter for Bowers, but let us not forget he is facing a felony gun charge, and had to post bail to avoid a stay in jail. He is not out of the woods, but I certainly wish him nothing but the best. He seems to have made an honest mistake, and hopefully the justice system allows for forgiveness of the young Buccaneer defender.

it is still New York and they will want to make an example of him, just like they did to Burress.
