OSU AD Gene Smith believes that these two old rivals will be put in the same division after Maryland and Rutgers join. Isn't conference realignment a wonderful thing?

I don't think that conferences should have divisions anyways. I also believe that conference championships are dumb.
As cool as it would be seeing Ohio State beat Michigan twice, the best conference isn't always the one that "wins" the championship game. I'm reminded of the first Big Ten championship game in which MSU lost to Wisconsin after Wisconsin had lost to them once already. You shouldn't have to prove yourself a second time after you've beaten a team, and if you lose that second game, should a third "rubber match" be played to determine the "real" best conference team? I hate divisions and conference championships.
