Article on Big 10 adding Maryland and Rutgers

Pretty interesting reading. I happen to think that the author makes a lot of sense.

A few corrections need to be made here; Number One the reason the Big XII has had issues is all on Texass being greedy and having a commissioner who was basically Dodds's whore. Members in the Big Ten {14} are all equal.

Two; even with the addition of Miami, VT {et al} the ACC is always gonna be a basketball conference, just like the Big East. Football is secondary.

Honestly, I like it only for the reason that I'll be able to see the Huskers play within an hour & a half from where I live.

This was a revenue deal, though I think the next round the Big Ten will be looking to add quality. {in terms of football pedigree}

Seems to me that quality of the team's play on the field should always be first and foremost.

I agree with that. Rutgers isn't a bad program, Maryland could be an up & coming power. Maryland will be a great addition for Big Ten basketball for the immediate future.

Before yesterday Rutgers was ranked I believe, so it's not like they're Duke or anything like that. Maryland I think could be a sleeping giant, They are following a similar plan to what Oregon has done.
