08:06 AM ET 01.01 | Andy Reid is out, leaving the Eagles searching for a head coach for the first time in more than a decade. [Eagles] owner Jeffrey Lurie has requested permission to interview Atlanta Falcons assistants Mike Nolan, Dirk Koetter and Keith Armstrong, according to an NFL source. University of Oregon coach Chip Kelly is the Eagles' prime target, according to two NFL senior personnel officials. Kelly, 49, is 45-7 in four seasons as a college head coach. He is praised for his innovative mind, so much so that Patriots coach Bill Belichick has used elements of the Oregon offense in New England this season. The Ducks play in the Fiesta Bowl on Thursday. Lurie, who fired [Reid] on Monday, said that he spent the last month researching potential hires.

Jaworski says Jon Gruden would be interested in Eagles
Posted by Mike Florio on January 7, 2013, 7:47 PM EST Largely ignored for the first week of the 2013 hiring cycle, former Raiders and Buccaneers coach Jon Gruden seems to be doing his damnedest to create a market where none apparently exists. Via John Clark of NBC10 in Philly, former in-booth partner Ron Jaworski of ESPN said on 97.5 The Fanatic that: (1) Jaworski has spoken to Gruden; (2) the Eagles haven’t reached out yet to Gruden; and (3) Gruden would be interested. So much for Gruden being committed to ESPN. Earlier today, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported that the Browns “might be” interested in Gruden. We promptly learned that the more accurate term is “aren’t.”

The Philadelphia Eagles have interviewed Notre Dame's Brian Kelly for their coaching vacancy, league sources told ESPN. Kelly met with the Eagles on Tuesday, and there was mutual interest after the interview, according to league sources. Kelly left the country after meeting with the Eagles and could not be reached for comment. The Eagles and Kelly have agreed to revisit talks when he returns this weekend, according to league sources. Kelly coached the Fighting Irish to a 12-0 regular season and an appearance in the Discover BCS National Championship. Playing for its first national title since 1988, Notre Dame was routed by Alabama, 42-14, on Monday night. Philadelphia has been seeking a replacement for longtime coach Andy Reid, who was fired one day after the Eagles completed a disappointing 4-12 season. |

I don't know, I really don't see Kelly leaving ND. And, if he did, I don't see him successful at the next level.

Report: Eagles interviewed Brian Billick
Posted by Mike Florio on January 13, 2013, 4:36 PM EST When FOX’s Brian Billick appeared Thursday on PFT Live, I asked the perfunctory question regarding whether he has heard from any of the teams looking for coaches. And he gave me the perfunctory (but polite) non-answer. According to Reuben Frank of CSNPhilly.com, the Eagles quietly interviewed Billick on Monday. It confirms the new existence of a bizarro world when it comes to coaching discretion. In past years, there would have been no reason for Billick’s meeting to have remained secret. And, in past years, there would have been no reason for interviews with multiple college coaches to have been publicized. Some believe that Seahawks defensive coordinator Gus Bradley is the favorite for the Philly job. The fact that Billick is secretly on the radar screen makes us wonder who else might be, too

The Eagles are lucky, they have the entire coachingverse lined up outside their door for this job
